Macao's doses of vaccine up by 18.6 pct in 2017

MACAO, May 24 (Xinhua) -- A total of 365,000 doses of vaccine were administered in hospitals and primary health care establishments in China's Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) last year, up by 18.6 percent year-on-year, the SAR's statistics bureau said on Thursday.

Information from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) also indicated that the vaccinations against influenza totalled 109,000 doses.

There were five hospitals in Macao in 2017, providing a total of 1,596 in-patient beds, up by 5 percent year-on-year, the DSEC said.

The number of in-patients rose by 1.8 percent year-on-year to 59,000, with an average hospital stay of 7.0 days, down by 0.1 day.

According to the Health Bureau, there were 1,730 doctors and 2,397 nurses in 2017, up by 0.2 percent and 2.3 percent respectively year-on-year. The number of doctors and nurses per 1,000 population was 2.6 and 3.7, respectively.
