ULAN BATOR, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Mongolian government adopted a national program for protection of intangible cultural heritage during a regular meeting on Wednesday.

The national program aims to protect intangible cultural heritage of various ethnic groups in Mongolia and pass on this heritage to future generations, the government's press office said.

The press office added that the government will cover necessary costs to implement the program in 2019-2024.

Currently, a total of 80 types of intangible cultural heritage have been inscribed in the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mongolia, according to the country's Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports.

In addition, there are now more than 8,000 people who have officially been named as inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, the ministry said.
