BISHKEK, Feb. 20 (Xinhua) -- A Belgian citizen was killed by a snow avalanche while skiing on the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of Issyk-Kul regional internal affairs department said on Wednesday.
The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Boz-Uchuk gorge in Issyk-Kul Oblast, which located in the northeast of the country, the report said.
Klaartje Cuyckens, 33, together with her brother and a local guide were skiing on the day. The woman was riding down a slope when an avalanche descended and covered her.
Rescuers found her body later, according to the local administration.
