ANKARA, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Ankara is concerned over the increasing tensions between Pakistan and India, and calls for both parties to be calm, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday.

The two countries should avoid any steps that would further escalate the tensions, Cavusoglu said in Ankara.

Cavusoglu said he held a phone conversation with his Pakistani counterpart Shah Mehmood Qureshi, but not with any Indian official yet.

Pakistan early Wednesday claimed that it shoot down two Indian fighter jets and arrested two Indian pilots after India on Tuesday claimed its jets entered Pakistani airspace and bombed a camp of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) militant group.

The ties between the two Asian neighbors have grown strained following the Feb. 14 suicide attack on the Indian police in the Indian-controlled Kashmir that had killed over 40 policemen.
