ISLAMABAD, April 10 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan on Wednesday sent relief goods to the flood-hit people in Iran, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry said.

Over 70 people were killed in floods in the southwestern Iranian province of Khuzestan this month, according to Iranian officials.

The ministry said the country's National Disaster Management Authority has dispatched a load of over 32 tons of humanitarian assistance to flood-hit Iran on the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The consignment comprised of two shipments of 500 tents, 3,300 blankets and emergency medical kits. The first shipment has already been dispatched to Iranian city of Ahwaz on Wednesday, the ministry said in a statement.

"As a brotherly country Pakistan decided to assist its neighbor Iran by sending humanitarian aid to supplement Iran's own relief efforts. Pakistanis stand by their Iranian brethren at this difficult time," the statement said.
