TAIPEI, June 12 (Xinhua) -- About 64 percent of teenagers in Taiwan feel bored without a mobile phone, and their dependency on the electronic gadget grows with age, according to a survey released Wednesday.

About 39 percent of the teenagers polled said they use mobile phones for over three hours a day, according to the survey by the King Car Cultural and Educational Foundation.

The survey also found that, when using mobile phones, teenagers feel the most anxious when the phones run out of battery. About 35 percent of the senior high students said they bring portable power banks with them almost every day.

A teacher surnamed Chang from the Taipei Huajiang High School said the survey reflects his personal experiences. "However, students also need mobile phones for contact and access to information. Supervision on the use of mobile phones requires cooperation between teachers, parents and the students themselves."

The survey covered 3,017 middle and primary school students across Taiwan, of which boys and girls each accounted for about half of the respondents.
