BEIJING, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Three Chinese online literature operators were asked on Monday to clear up pornographic publications on their platforms.

Including one of China's major online literature websites -- jjwxc.net, the sites were told to stop updating content and conducting any business operations, and publish notifications of corrective actions on the homepages of their websites and apps, said the National Office Against Pornographic and Illegal Publications (NOAPIP).

The crackdown was jointly mandated by multiple authorities including anti-pornography authorities of Beijing and Shanghai, as well as departments in charge of cyberspace affairs, press and publications.

The national anti-pornography office said it will work with other related administrative and law-enforcing departments to crack down on vulgar and pornographic content and show zero tolerance for noxious publications online and offline.

NOAPIP will put more efforts in regulating online literature, gathering tip-offs from the public and issuing warnings on companies with bad behavior going forward.
