BANGKOK, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Wednesday expressed his condolences to the 15 dead and the five injured in the vicious attacks by insurgents in the southern Thai province of Yala.

Prayut said there is no place for attackers in Thailand and those responsible will have to face the full force of the Thai law.

The prime minister, quoted in the media, said that Thailand is a peaceful country and will not tolerate those trying to undermine the sovereignty of the country.

"Let me tell you, these attackers are inhumane," said Prayut, adding that "to families of the victims, I will not leave you behind."

The prime minister ordered security and administrative authorities to offer all possible assistance to those affected and to give moral support.

"This incident is a great loss to the province of Yala. It was an inhumane act against innocent people. But morale will not be shaken. On the contrary, security officials and organizations will work harder. The prime minister gives his moral support to all people and officials. He ordered security organizations to boost local security and quickly arrest culprits to create peace and people's well-being," said Thai government spokesperson Narumon Pinyosinwat, reiterating Prayut's comment on the Yala attack.

A group of militants on late Tuesday night attacked a defence checkpoint in the Yala province, killing 15 and injuring five.

The attackers made off with the officials' weapons.
